Procedure for Handling Explosion proof Certificate of GB/T3836 Standard

In places where explosive mixtures are commonly present in industries such as coal, petroleum, chemical, textile, and grain processing, such as production, processing, storage, and transportation, if an explosion occurs, the harm is extremely great. Therefore, the equipment used and installed in such places generally requires the product to adopt suitable explosion-proof protection types and measures, pass relevant national explosion-proof standard tests, and obtain corresponding explosion-proof certificates to avoid causing explosions in the surrounding environment.

Explosion proof certificate: It is a document used to determine whether the equipment meets the requirements of explosion-proof standards, type tests, and routine tests for adaptation. The certificate can be for Ex devices or Ex components.

So, what are the requirements for applying for an explosion-proof certificate for equipment?
STS briefly introduced the procedure below.

◆ Data preparation requirements

(1) Applicant's Business License

(2) Product enterprise standards. Enterprise standards should include the name of the enterprise standard, the enterprise number, the date of publication and implementation, the basis for writing, the proposer, the drafter, the referenced documents, product specifications and models, basic parameters, explosion-proof markings, environmental conditions for use, explosion-proof related technical conditions, testing methods, inspection rules, judgment methods, product markings, packaging and transportation conditions, etc.

(3) Product user manual. The instruction manual should include the basic parameters of the product, environmental conditions for use, explosion-proof signs, product appearance, installation and use specifications, safety precautions, warning language, and other precautions related to explosion-proof.

(4) Product drawings. The drawings should include general assembly drawings, explosion-proof related component drawings, circuit schematics, printed circuit board drawings, screen printing drawings, component material lists, nameplate drawings, etc. Drawings unrelated to explosion-proof may not be provided. The explosion-proof structure and parameters should be reflected in the drawings.

(5) Model specification description, if it is a series product, there should also be a model specification description.

(6) Process documents. For example, for products with pouring and sealing structures, pouring and sealing process documents need to be provided.

(7) Battery specification sheet. For example, products containing batteries need to be provided.

(8) If components that have obtained explosion-proof certification are used in the product, the corresponding explosion-proof certification of the components must be provided.

◆ Sample preparation requirements

According to the product specifications, model series, representative products should be submitted for inspection, and the samples submitted for inspection should be consistent with the provided product drawings. The number of prototypes depends on the explosion-proof type and specifications of the product, usually 1-3 pieces. Three pieces of glass are required for glass components, three samples are required for n-type or sealed types, and at least one set of components before sealing is required for sealed types. Non metallic standard samples are required for components with non-metallic shells; If there are special dismantling structures, dismantling tools and other materials required for testing should be provided.

◆ Detection stage

The main work during the testing phase is in the testing laboratory. However, if the product testing fails and needs to be rectified, the enterprise needs to actively cooperate with the rectification to meet the requirements of explosion-proof standards.

◆ Certificate acquisition stage

(1) Upon receiving the certificate and report, the first step is to check for any errors in the information.

(2) Go online to check if the certificate number matches the paper certificate, and confirm the authenticity of the certificate.
