The 3C certification of explosion-proof electrical products, also known as China Compulsory Certification, is an important measure to ensure the personal safety of consumers and the country, and to strengthen product quality management. Starting from October 1, 2019, explosion-proof electrical products have been included in the scope of CCC certification management and will be enforced from October 1, 2020. This certification system not only requires products to meet specific standards, but also involves a series of processes from design, production to after-sales supervision. The following will elaborate on the implementation details of explosion-proof electrical 3C certification.


1、 Standards for certification basis


The standard for mandatory certification of explosion-proof electrical products was released on October 11, 2021 and officially implemented on May 1, 2022. These standards include:

These standards provide detailed requirements and testing methods for explosion-proof electrical products in various flammable and explosive environments, providing technical basis for certification.


2、 Certification process


The 3C certification process for explosion-proof electrical products mainly includes the following steps:


1. Prepare application documents


The applying enterprise needs to prepare a series of documents, including but not limited to enterprise qualification certificates, product technical information, production process diagrams, quality control system documents, etc. These documents will be used to demonstrate that the enterprise has the ability and conditions to produce qualified explosion-proof electrical products.


2. Submit the application and accept it


The enterprise will submit the prepared application documents to the certification body. After receiving the application, the certification body will conduct a preliminary review of the application materials to confirm their completeness and compliance. If the materials are complete and meet the basic requirements, the certification body will officially accept the application and issue a notice of acceptance to the enterprise, clarifying the specific arrangements and time nodes for subsequent certification work.


3. Product testing and evaluation


After accepting the application, the certification body will organize a laboratory to conduct strict testing on the explosion-proof electrical products applied for certification. The testing content covers multiple aspects of the product, such as electrical performance, explosion-proof performance, and environmental adaptability, to ensure that the product meets the requirements of the GB/T 3836 series standards. At the same time, certification bodies will conduct comprehensive evaluations of product design, production processes, quality control systems, etc. to verify whether the enterprise has the ability to continuously produce qualified products.


4. Factory inspection


During or after product testing and evaluation, the certification body will dispatch auditors to the enterprise factory for on-site inspection. The inspection mainly includes aspects such as production environment, production equipment, raw material management, production process control, and finished product inspection to confirm whether the enterprise has established an effective quality management system in accordance with certification requirements and can continue to implement it in actual production.


5. Certification Decision and Certificate Issuance


Based on the comprehensive product testing, evaluation results, and factory inspection, the certification body will make a certification decision. If both the product and the enterprise meet the certification requirements, the certification body will issue a 3C certification certificate for explosion-proof electrical products to the enterprise and publish the certification information online. The validity period of the certificate is usually five years, during which the enterprise needs to undergo regular supervision and audit to ensure the continuous stability of product quality.


6. Subsequent supervision and review


After obtaining certification, enterprises are required to regularly submit product quality reports, production change notices, and other documents in accordance with the requirements of the certification body, and undergo irregular factory inspections and market sampling tests. In addition, before the expiration of the certificate, the enterprise needs to apply for a re examination to maintain its certification qualification. The review process is similar to the initial certification, but focuses more on evaluating the continuous improvement and compliance maintenance of the enterprise.
