Introduction to IECEX Certification
The abbreviation for the IECEx International Electrotechnical Commission Explosion proof Electrical Product Certification System refers to the certification of electrical equipment specifically used in industrial sectors such as petroleum, chemical, coal mining, textile, grain processing, and military industries where explosive gases, vapors, dust, or fibers may accumulate in hazardous areas.
Explosion proof electrical products, also known as Ex products, refer to electrical equipment specifically used in industrial sectors such as petroleum, chemical, coal mining, textile, grain processing, and military industries where explosive gases, vapors, dust, or fibers may accumulate. Early management measures mainly focused on type testing or type approval of explosion-proof electrical products. In the late 1980s, some industrial countries, such as Western European countries, began to implement explosion-proof certification systems for explosion-proof electrical products.
Ex products must obtain explosion-proof certification before they are allowed to be used in explosive hazardous areas. The certification system is essential for ensuring the safety of Ex products, but on the other hand, due to the need for repeated explosion-proof inspections and certifications when Ex products enter different countries or regions, it creates many obstacles to international trade of Ex products. In order to eliminate unnecessary repeated inspections and certifications of Ex products internationally and promote international trade, an international certification organization for explosion-proof electrical products was established within the scope of the International Electrotechnical Commission in 1992. After several years of preparation, the International Electrotechnical Commission Explosion proof Electrical Product Certification Organization, abbreviated as IECEx Certification System, was officially established in 1996.
Member countries of the IECEX system
So far, there are 24 formal member states, including Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, South Korea, the Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Romania, Serbia and Montenegro (formerly Yugoslavia), Russia, Slovenia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The organization representing China in this international organization is the Certification and Accreditation Administration of China (CNCA)

What are the benefits of obtaining the IECEX international certification certificate
(1) The company's products have obtained the IECEx international certification certificate, which proves that the company's production of certified products meets the requirements of relevant IEC standards, and the manufacturer's quality plan meets the requirements of the international explosion-proof certification organization, and the products are produced under the supervision of ExCB.
(2) For products that have already obtained the IECEx international certification certificate, enterprises can publish information or copies of the IECEx international certification certificate in advertisements, promotional materials, and product samples. They can also mark the certificate number on the product. If the IECEx certification mark is released, they can also mark the IECEx certification mark on the certified product. Enhance the credibility and visibility of enterprises and products, and increase market competitiveness.
(3) If products that have obtained the IECEx international certification are exported, countries that have already received the IECEx international certification, such as Australia and New Zealand, do not need to apply for explosion-proof certification in that country. For member countries where there are still differences in standards between countries, they can apply for national explosion-proof certification for their products from the certification body (ExCB) of the country based on the obtained IECEx international certification certificate, inspection report (ExTR), and factory quality system inspection report (QAR), and obtain the certification certificate through the "fast track", saving time and cost. If exported to non IECEx member countries, it may also receive preferential treatment such as recognition certificates or simplified certification procedures.
